Ground penetrating radar is a powerful tool for shallow geophysical survey. In our laboratory we have developed a wide band (1MHz-500MHz) stepped-frequency GPR radar system for various applications. We have interest for deeper survey using GPR by CMP technique and Vertical radar Profiling (VRP) technique using a borehole.
Field test in Sendai castle for archaeological study is continuously conducted since 1997. We have found buried stones at 7m from the ground surface in this site. Permafrost study is also our interest and tested GPR in Obihiro, Hokkaido in April 1999. We could clearly detect the boundary of the frozen-melted boundary of the temporal permafrost. |
